Hey Nick, if you’re interested in how many different indigenous cultures ‘knew’ about the same herbs/plants, even when they were on different continents, I think you’ll find Stephen Harrod Buhner’s work interesting. He wrote Sacred Plant Medicine (I haven’t read this one yet) and Sacred and Herbal Healing Beers (reading now). He is a fantastic storyteller, it isn’t dry at all, and I am finding it fascinating. Like yourself, I also come from a scientific, Western background, where the spiritual and energy side of things was never, ever talked about it. We went to church every Sunday, and that was about it.
